Updated: Oct 14

Ashley Ackerman, CPA and Senior Manager at HFA in Lakewood, has received the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) Ovation Award 2021 Woman to Watch in recognition of her exemplary efforts and stellar achievement in advancing New Jersey’s accounting profession.

The Woman to Watch award recognizes female NJCPA members for their leadership, potential, contributions and/or commitment to fostering the success of their colleagues. Founded in 1898, the NJCPA is the largest professional organization serving the needs of Garden State CPAs and aspiring CPAs. With a membership of more than 14,000, the NJCPA represents the majority of New Jersey CPAs in public practice, business and industry, government and education. The NJCPA supports its members through a variety of education, networking, leadership and volunteer initiatives.

“In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s a great time to acknowledge those individuals who went above and beyond during this past year,” said Ralph Albert Thomas, CEO and executive director of the NJCPA, in a statement. “The accounting profession is on the cusp of so many changes that it’s important to thank those who are leading the charge.”

As a Senior Manager at HFA, Ackerman brings over 10 years of professional experience to HFA, specializing in employee benefit plans, manufacturing and distribution, real estate and non-profit entities. Her main areas of expertise include auditing, consulting, single audits and internal controls. Ackerman graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in both Accounting and Economics. She then went on to receive a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Baltimore. Most recently, Ackerman has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Coastal Habitat for Humanity. She resides in Toms River with her husband, two-year-old daughter and two dogs.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by the NJCPA with a prestigious Ovation Award,” said Ackerman. “As a working mother, I hope to set a good example for my daughter and for other working moms in the profession. I am truly humbled to be recognized as a Woman to Watch, along with other motivating women in New Jersey. Congratulations to all of the 2021 honorees.”
